Privacy Policy

Effective date: {{EFFECTIVE_DATE}}
Last updated: {{LAST_UPDATED_DATE}}

This policy explains what {{LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME — e.g. Joy Data Solutions LLC}} (“we”, “us”) collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

1. Who we are

{{LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME — e.g. Joy Data Solutions LLC}} provides data analytics and automation consulting services. If you have questions about this policy or about data we hold, contact us at kevin.joy@joydatasolutions.com.

2. Information you give us directly

When you submit a contact form, request a consultation, book a call, or subscribe to updates, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number and preferred contact method, if you provide them
  • Your company or organisation, if you provide it
  • The content of your message

We use this only to respond to you and to provide the services you asked about. Contact submissions are stored in Google Sheets and sent to us by email. Consultations booked through this site are scheduled using Google Appointment Scheduling, which receives the details you enter into the booking form.

3. Financial account information (Plaid)

Some of our applications let you connect a bank or financial account so your transactions can be imported automatically instead of entered by hand. This connection is optional — you only provide it if you choose to link an account.

How the connection works

We use Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”) as our service provider to connect to your financial institution. When you link an account, you enter your credentials directly into Plaid’s interface. We never see, receive, or store your bank username or password. Plaid returns an access token to us, which we store in encrypted form and use only to retrieve the data described below.

By connecting an account you agree that Plaid may collect, use, and store your information in accordance with its own privacy policy. Your data is transmitted and handled according to Plaid’s practices. Please read Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy.

What we receive

Through Plaid we request the transactions product for institutions in the United States. That means we receive:

  • Account information — the institution name, the account name, the account type, and the last four digits of the account number. We do not receive or store the full account number.
  • Transaction information — for each transaction, the date, the amount, and the merchant or description.

We do not request Plaid’s identity, income, assets, liabilities, or investments products. If that changes, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect.

How we use it

Financial account data is used solely to provide the features you asked for — importing and categorising your transactions, and producing the reports and summaries within the application. We do not sell your financial data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Disconnecting and deletion

You can disconnect a linked financial account at any time from within the application, which revokes our access token and stops any further data being retrieved. To request deletion of financial data already imported, email kevin.joy@joydatasolutions.com. We will action verified requests within {{RESPONSE_WINDOW — e.g. 30 days}}.

Deleting data held by us does not by itself delete data held by Plaid. To understand or control what Plaid holds, see Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy and Plaid’s privacy portal.

4. Cookies and analytics

{{COOKIES_AND_ANALYTICS — state whether any analytics or tracking cookies are used. If none are used, say so plainly.}}

5. Service providers we share data with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with providers that help us operate, and only as needed:

  • Plaid Inc. — connecting your financial accounts
  • Google (Cloud, Sheets, Gmail, Appointment Scheduling) — hosting, storing enquiries, sending email, and scheduling calls
  • {{ANY_OTHER_PROCESSORS — e.g. Supabase for application data. Remove this bullet if there are none.}}

We may also disclose information where required by law.

6. How long we keep it

{{RETENTION_POLICY — state how long enquiry data and imported financial data are kept, and what triggers deletion.}}

7. Security

Measures we apply to the systems described in this policy:

  • Traffic to this site and to our applications is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
  • Plaid access tokens are stored encrypted, not in plain text.
  • We never receive or store your bank login credentials.
  • Access to systems holding client data is limited to personnel who need it.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong
  • Ask us to delete your information
  • Withdraw consent, including by disconnecting a linked financial account
  • Ask us to stop sending you marketing messages

To exercise any of these, email kevin.joy@joydatasolutions.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

9. Children

Our services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the effective date above. If a change materially affects how we handle financial account data, we will update this page before the change takes effect.
